Bole.
definition; earth.
Bole is inspired by an Etruscan Shield, a pared back simple sculptural form , balanced by a single brass pole and brass ball.
The materials used help define its shape and presence.
Hand curved and then carved , the edges are sanded back to a feathered edge.
Bole, which is used in water gilding and is an earth pigment applied in 3-4 coats.
When dry it is then polished by a wool cloth.
We then apply a coat of beeswax to protect.
I like this natural finish , with the wax when polished looks like leather, the shape a timeless quality, balanced.
Smaller versions, some with a glass stem in various colours.
Bole too comes in a cream white gesso, a green and deep yellow.
Each one is handmade and unique, I can mirror for a pair.
Part of my Chalk series.

In order to retain the classic look of a traditional wall light, many of our designs have a flush fitting back plate enabling them to sit neatly up against the wall. However, in order to achieve this, the plastic connector box will need to be housed within a cavity in the wall as there is physically no room within the light fitting itself.
This means that if you do not already have such a cavity, need to consult a qualified electrician about fitting a mounting box into your wall. This is generally not a problem if you have plasterboard walls but may be more difficult if they are solid brick or lath and plaster.
Icna supply mounting boxes which fit inside the wall, please let me know.
